Press Release: FLOW Announces 15th Anniversary Anime-only Concert “FLOW The Carnival 2017”

Last month, in July 2017, FLOW began their 15th Anniversary year, and the band recently finished the first round of their 6-city celebration tour in Fukuoka August 6th.

On the final night of the tour, FLOW announced a special, one-night-only concert to take place on December 21st titled “FLOW THE CARNIVAL 2017 ~Anime-only~”, which will include 21 songs from anime-related works. The teaser video for the one-man live has been released on FLOW’s Official Facebook.

Since 2004, when their 4th major single “GO!!!” was chosen as the opening theme song for the TV Tokyo anime series Naruto, FLOW has provided 21 anime-related songs for 10 anime series and OVAs. The strong melody from the band’s twin vocalists and their wide range of music has allowed them to appear in both domestic and international rock music events and anime-related events, creating a bridge between rock and anime music.

FLOW chose to begin their second round of 15th Anniversary concerts with the special “anime-only” event (the first in the band’s history) in order to show their pride, gratitude, and respect for the anime projects and their fans.

FLOW released their 15th anniversary commemorative album Fighting Dreamers in June, which features 11 anime voice actors taking part in the lead song’s chorus, and each of the 5 band members writing a new song, coming together to create an album representing FLOW’s new era.

Press Release: Anime Music Streaming Subscription Service “ANiUTa”

Anime music record companies cooperated and established a new company called “ANIUTA,INC.”  The new company announced and launched the worldʼs first anime music specialized paid subscription “ANiUTa” today.

ANiUTa will tap into a new market in music streaming subscription by creating a service specialized in anime music. With the rise of demand for anime and anime music concerts outside of Japan, this subscription service originating in Japan will take on the market worldwide.

The music lineup includes music from anime, game, superhero productions and vocaloid. The 100% pure content will definitely satisfy users from different generations.

ANiUTa plans to provide exclusive original services such as pre-release streaming during anime airing season and collaborations between voice actors/actresses. Services based on anime music, such as exclusive concert ticket application and exclusive merchandise online shopping will also be launched within the service.

The biggest feature of this subscription service is that users can search music from specific anime, which is an exclusive feature that can only be done through specialized anime music service. ANiUTa contains more than fifty thousand tracks while about twenty thousand tracks are released in subscription services for the first time. The service is expected to launch abroad in the end of 2017.

About ANiUTa
ANiUTa is established by the CEOs of the leading anime music makers – Shiro Sasaki from FlyingDog, Inc. and Shunji Inoue from Lantis Co., Ltd. Since the emergence of paid music subscription services such as “Apple Music,” “Google Play Music,” and “Amazon Prime Music” back in 2015, the market has grown rapidly. Witnessing anime music fans worldwide during anime music events held abroad, two companies believe that in order to satisfy anime fans, there should be a specialized service tailor made instead of having massive all-genre music platforms. The new project establishes a unique platform towards fans. This is the concept of ANiUTa – Anime music makers directly approaching fans worldwide and providing a service that satisfies their fans.

Two Geek Musicians From Two Sides of the Planet Planning to Take Over the World in Song

Meri Amber (Geek Pop artist from Australia) and Kraken Not Stirred (Nerd Rock artist from Canada) play the role of two brains in tanks scheming to take over the world with love or fear respectively, in song. The song features not only the performances of the two geek musicians but also Kraken Not Stirred’s music production and guitar solo. The music video features not only their performances but also comic-style art and video editing by Meri Amber.
You can watch the newly released video here.

Another ear worm from Meri Amber, who provides her usual upbeat style of singing.  This is my first hearing Kraken Not Stirred but I have to say on this he bring both good rapping and guitar riffs.  The music video is all right, would have been more interesting if they had live action brains in the jar instead of just animated ones.
Meri Amber
Meri Amber is a Geek Pop artist from Australia who tours around and performs at many conventions in both Australia and, recently, New Zealand. She has released a number of CDs including the Super EP (songs inspired by ninjas, superpowers, YouTube etc.), her Doctor Who themed album, Pop Goes The TARDIS (songs inspired by Doctor Who), and her 90s themed album, Retro Sherbet (songs inspired by Tamagotchis, Pokémon, Xena etc.). Her next upcoming concert is at Sugar City Con in Mackay (Queensland, Australia).
Kraken Not Stirred
Kraken Not Stirred (otherwise known as Mike Bryant) is an Nerd Rock artist from Canada. Rather than creating his music acoustically, as is often done, he creates his music using a computer and Kitara digital guitar. He has released a large number of singles including The Ballad Of Han Solo, Today Sucked Show Me Cats, Pogo Zombie Is A Jerk, If You Post Spoilers I Will Kill You and Oh, The Places I’ve Been. He’s played at geeky events like Anime North (Toronto, Canada) and Con Funk! (Niagara Falls, Canada)

New Inverse Phase Shows and News

There are a few chances to catch chip music creator extraordinaire Inverse Phase coming up this August.  You can hear his music and learn about chip music creation.

In Washington DC at the Rhizome Space in Takoma on Sunday August 7th at noon a gathering of Muff Wiggler forum users will feature various synthesizer demonstrations, most of them analog.  Inverse Phase will have his custom chiptune synth that he is building (read further down) on display.

Then on the weekend of Friday August 26th through the 28th on Sunday he will be at Omegacon in Charlottesville, Virginia at the Holiday Inn.  He will be doing a performance and a discussion panel over the weekend, plus exhibiting in the vendor hall.

He will also be at this year’s BRKFest in Cincinnati, Ohio on September 2-4.  I will post more about this one later.

Inverse has also been building his own chiptune synthesizer from scratch, having previously been using emulators to create his music.  He has been building it quietly for a while now just hinting to fans about it.  It currently only produces basic music but Inverse will continue to work on it.  He promises “amazing things are going to happen” with it.  You can read more about the creation on his Patreon account.

Fans of chip music should try to catch one of these shows if you can.  If you are not familiar with chip music, its culture, creation, and genres then check out one of these shows and let Inverse Phase tell you about it.  He is one of the best at explaining it to novices.

Follow Inverse Phase on social media or sign up for his newsletter to keep up with future shows what other adventures he is on.
