Adam WarRock 24 Rap-A-Thon

Adam Warrock is doing a 24 Hour Rap-A-Thon to Benefit RAINN.org on October 18th.  For one full day he will be writing, recording, and posting as many songs as he possible can.  Last year he was able to get out 16 songs in one day and raised thousands of dollars to replace equipment that was stolen from him and gave the extra to charity.  This year the goal is to top over 20 songs in a day and is raising money for RAINN.org the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence charity directly, also a bit for himself to live off of, but mostly for charity.

I’m very excited to announce the second Adam WarRock 24 Rap-A-Thon! I could not be more honored to be doing this Rap-A-Thon to benefit not only adamwarrock.com, but also to benefit RAINN, the nation’s largest anti-sexual assault organization.
It’s always been my hope that this site and everything that happens on it would be for some kind of good, and after the success of last the Rap-A-Thon where your donations helped raise thousands of dollars to replace stolen equipment, as well as benefit RAINN – I wanted to try it again, this time in a bit of a more official capacity. So from the get-go, I will be raising money not only to, uh, live but also to benefit RAINN directly!
How does the Rap-A-Thon work?

Last year, I made 16 songs in a 24 hour period. That’s right. SIXTEEN. That’s me finding a beat, writing the song, recording it, processing it and posting it live. We raised almost $8,000.00 last time, and all the excess proceeds raised after replacing my stolen equipment was donated directly to RAINN, to a cause that I feel pretty strongly about.

Did you know…

Every 2 minutes, somewhere in America, someone is sexually assaulted.
1 in 6 U.S. women are victims of sexual assault, and 1 in 33 men.
About 44% of rape victims are under age 18, and 80% are under age 30.
College-aged women are 4 times more likely to be the victim of sexual assault.
6 out of every 10 sexual assaults are not reported to the police.
About 2/3 of all rapes are committed by someone who is known to the victim.
This, in addition to the pervasive rape culture that continually shows up in comics, in television, in movies — all the while having people incredibly close to me, loved ones who are survivors of sexual abuse and assault.
I wanted to do another Rap-A-Thon, and this time, I wanted to do something that meant something more than just buying a new computer. So hopefully you’ll pledge and be here on October 18 to see if I can break my last record of sixteen songs in 24 hours, and let’s try to do some good in the process.

You can pledge per-a-song or in one lump sum for rap-a-thon.  E-mail Adam to let him know now much you want to give.  You can also set a maximum for the per-song donation.  He has already gotten over $1,100 in pledges so far.

Even if you can not donate, you can still tune in to his site on the day to see what and how much music he can make in 24 hours.

This a chance to do a little good and hear what is sure to be some great music.
