Adam Warrock is doing a 24 Hour Rap-A-Thon to Benefit RAINN.org on October 18th. For one full day he will be writing, recording, and posting as many songs as he possible can. Last year he was able to get out 16 songs in one day and raised thousands of dollars to replace equipment that was stolen from him and gave the extra to charity. This year the goal is to top over 20 songs in a day and is raising money for RAINN.org the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence charity directly, also a bit for himself to live off of, but mostly for charity.
Some facts on sexual violence in this country: every 2 minutes, somewhere in America, someone is sexually assaulted; 1 in 6 U.S. women are victims of sexual assault, and 1 in 33 men; about 44% of rape victims are under age 18, and 80% are under age 30; college-aged women are 4 times more likely to be the victim of sexual assault; 6 out of every 10 sexual assaults are not reported to the police; about 2/3 of all rapes are committed by someone who is known to the victim.
This, in addition to the pervasive rape culture that continually shows up in comics, in television, in movies — all the while having people incredibly close to me, loved ones who are survivors of sexual abuse and assault. I wanted to do another Rap-A-Thon, and this time, I wanted to do something that meant something more than just buying a new computer.

You can pledge per-a-song or in one lump sum for rap-a-thon. E-mail Adam to let him know now much you want to give. You can also set a maximum for the per-song donation. He has already gotten over $1,100 in pledges so far.
Even if you can not donate, you can still tune in to his site on the day to see what and how much music he can make in 24 hours.
This a chance to do a little good and hear what is sure to be some great music.
